How it Works
The therapeutic use of aloe has been well documented in many cultures throughout time and for good reasons. The plant contains a multitude of beneficial components including vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and sugar based molecules called polysaccharides. These different elements help to bind water to the skin and function as anti-inflammatories which can help the skin feel soothed and moisturized.
The leaves of agave plants contain phytochemicals called fructans and flavonoids. These phytochemicals act as antioxidants, preventing skin cells from oxidative stress that can be caused by UV rays and other irritants. Saponins, also found in the leaves of agave plants, contain anti-inflammatory properties as well. Combined, these components of agave help to calm inflamed and irritated skin.
Sodium Myristoyl Glutamate
In cleansing products, surfactants are what remove impurities from your skin. The surfactant Sodium Myristoyl Glutamate is the true star of our cleansing formula. It’s created by combining the amino acid, L-Glutamic acid, and myristic fatty acid. This combination results in an effective surfactant that is mild on the skin and highly biodegradable. The slightly acidic pH is similar to that of the skin making it less irritating and perfect for this gentle cleanser.
